Couture Fall 2013 : Schiaparelli

SchiaparelliI know i am late on doing the Fall 2013 couture…..I get it…but when your about to graduate college like I am you tend to forget a couple things (like your sanity), anyways I am now starting to pick up on the Couture collections for Fall 2013 and there is one that has commanded my attention completely and that is Christian Lacroix for Schiaparelli. I don’t evenknow where to begin because this collection is by far the most elaborate and gorgeous homage to the iconic surrealist designer. Schiap’s influence of the surreal lobster dress to the barbaric (she loved monkey fur) are all seen. It was more the conjuring of a fashion-not-function design sensibility that sparked the exhibition: Schiap’s sari dress in acid-green chiffon; a huge skirt in charcoal faille boomed with a bright green bow; a braided cape in jet black satin; or a coatdress in fuchsia cashmere caped and belted in black passementerie. I believe that one of the top outfits was a pink-and-black striped dress in duchesse satin that bunched in back into a surreally enormous bow. Schiap’s love of the arts and the elaborate circuses, the legendary Bébé Bérard’s sketches that lightened her designs. Lacroix’s idolization of them both: That single outfit contained their whole universe and the whole entire exhibit like show.
